Butt Augmentation Treatment
A Week before your Treatment
- Before any butt augmentation procedure, consult your doctor about all medications you are taking—especially blood-thinning prescriptions like Heparin and Coumadin.
- Stop taking Aspirin®, NSAIDs (such as Motrin™ [Ibuprofen] and Aleve™ [Naproxen]), and vitamin supplements containing fish oil or Vitamin E before your procedure, as these can all promote bleeding.
- Pick up 4 x 4 gauze, triple anti-biotic ointment (Neosporin or a generic), Hibiclens Skin Cleanser, Vitamin K1 ,Bromelain, Arnica (we suggest sublingual) and paper tape at the pharmacy. It is also a good idea to pick up compression garments.
3 DAYS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE: Wash your lower body with Hibiclens Skin Cleanser.
- Take Bromelain (2 pills 3 times per day on an empty stomach).
- Take Arnica (3 tabs sublingual 3xday).
- Take Vitamin K1 (5mg twice a day)
- These supplements can help with the side effects of the procedure which can include swelling, bruising, numbness, pain, and asymmetry.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE (Sleep and Sitting)
- Do not sit or sleep on your back for 5 days. It is most comfortable to use a 2” piece of foam padding on your bed while resting on your sides during your recovery.
- Short periods of sitting are acceptable and generally not harmful but no more than 10-30 minutes at any time. You may sleep on your stomach or sides.
- Wear your compression garments constantly (day and night) for the first 2 weeks.
- Place a pillow behind your upper legs to decrease pressure on the buttock region while sitting. This should be used for at least the first week.
- While in bed lie on your stomach or side as much as possible to keep direct pressure off of the buttock region. Keep your hips flexed to 30-45 degrees with support from 2-3 pillows.
Activity and Diet
Do not attempt exercising at any level for the first week.
Ibuprofen (Motrin) can be started the day after surgery. Take one to two tablets every 6 hours for 2 days and then as needed.
Follow a well-balanced diet to include protein and limit the amount salt intake. A high salt diet or meal, can lead to increased swelling and prolonged recovery.
Oral hydration should include the use of electrolyte containing fluids such as Gatorade or a low-calorie substitute. Limit the amount of caffeinated beverages as they can promote dehydration.
Continue to wear the compression garment at night 10. Direct sun contact or tanning booths are to be avoided. Use of a clinical grade sunscreen with SPF 30 and zinc oxide (UVA and UVB protection) is recommended.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE
Most people experience soreness as opposed to sharp pains for about 7 days after. In addition, sensations like numbness, itching and burning are common during the healing process. These sensations may last several weeks and will gradually disappear.
Bruising and swelling are to be expected. Bruising can be apparent for as long as 1 month afterwards. • Avoid fat burning exercises, especially those targeting the buttock, for at least 3 months following your procedure.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have nausea, vomiting, rash, shortness of breath, or if you develop a fever (oral temperature greater than 100°), redness and/or increased pain at the injection sites, please call 469-323-1774.
