PDO THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE  PRE-POST PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

Our office wants to provide you with the very best care. You can help to minimize the risk of complications by carefully reading and following your pre-and post treatment instructions. If you have any questions or problems that are not addressed here, call our office, and we’ll be happy to help.
PDO threads are absorbable synthetic polymer that is highly versatile. The PDO thread will biodegrade over a period of 4 to 6 months. The PDO thread will create micro injuries to the skin causing it to have a positive result on the dermal layers, for example, increased blood flow. Results from this treatment may take up to 3 weeks to be noticeable. To achieve the best possible result from your treatment, follow these instructions carefully.
Pre-Treatment Care

 2 weeks prior to treatment
  • Do not schedule dental work teeth cleaning or vaccines 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your procedure.
  • If you are on medically-prescribed blood thinners, please let your provider know. Also let us know if you are to lidocaine. We advise you to continue to take them, but there is a greater potential you may bruise more from the treatment.
1 week before your treatment
  • Discontinue the use of Alcohol, Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding.
2 days before your treatment
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
 1 day before your treatment
  • You may take oral antihistamines to reduce swelling prior to treatment (i.e. Claritin or benadryl & Pepcid).

 Post-Treatment care

For the first 48  to 72 hours after your treatment
  • Use only soap and water on the insertion sites for 48 hours (No SPF, makeup, or moisturizers).
  • You may use Tylenol/Advil for pain
  • Use ice as needed for swelling and tenderness. It is important to keep swelling down. Swelling may occur on and off up to 2 weeks.
  • Bruising, swelling and tenderness are expected. Antihistamines such Claritin along with Pepcid are also beneficial through the recovery process to reduce excess swelling. You may take both as directed for 2-4 days.
  • Sleep with your head elevated for 2-3 days.
For the first week after your treatment
  • We commended that you do not schedule flights, make travel plans or vacations for whole week following your procedure
for the first 2 weeks after your treatment
  • Sleep on your back for a minimum of 2 weeks.
  • Minimize manipulation of facial tissues. Apply facial creams and makeup with sponges or by patting. Gently cleanse skin without massaging.
For the next 4 to 8 weeks after your treatment
  • Avoid high impact exercise for 4 weeks, as well as yoga or anything that puts a strain on facial tissue threads.
  • Avoid dental procedures for 8 weeks if possible.
  • Facial animation for 4 weeks needs to be kept to a minimum. We recommend that you allow your face to rest for 2 weeks (keep over exaggerated facial expressions to a minimum). Avoid opening your mouth wide. (This included eating foods like hamburgers subs, etc.) for 4 weeks.
  • Do not schedule massages that require you to lay with your face down for 4-8 weeks.
  • A stinging or “pulling” sensation in the skin can be normal for 2-4 weeks after placement of the threads

We will schedule a post procedure follow-up 1 week after your treatment.

Proper care and realistic expectations of the recovery process are essential for achieving the best results.
